North Manitou Shoal Light - "The Crib"
Visit the North Manitou Shoal Light located in the Manitou Passage.
Service Description
Locally known as “The Crib,” the North Manitou Shoal Light station has been safely guiding ships through the Manitou Passage since 1935. Fully automated and abandoned by the Coast Guard in 1980, the lighthouse remained vacant for over 40 years. In 2016, the lighthouse was purchased at auction by the non-profit North Manitou Light Keepers, and is undergoing a 2+ million dollar restoration. In 2021, the Light Keepers began the first public tours of lighthouse in its 87 year history, and will eventually open the structure to the public for overnight stays.
